In Person Class
In Person Class, with lecture. The stretches incorporate an active-isolated movement. This method of stretching uses the neurological process of reciprocal innervation/inhibition. Attendees learn how to safely, and effectively stretch themselves as well as their clients.
This method of stretching uses the neurological process of reciprocal innervation/inhibition. This allows the targeted muscle for stretching to be in a relaxed, inhibited state. The therapist assists the client in isolating the movement to a single joint and single plane of movement. The therapist will be instructed to monitor and control factors such as: speed of movement, duration of the stretch, plane of movement, and compensation at other joints. The participants will learn how to use these stretches for their own body, while also learning how to safely assist their clients in performing these stretches, thereby augmenting whatever bodywork that the LMT may already be providing. The participant will learn what some of the many benefits of flexibility training are, as well as many physiological and personal factors that can limit one’s flexibility. Knowing how to lengthen muscle and fascial tissue that has shortened enables one to assist the client into a more balanced and erect posture, thus reducing the stress on their postural muscles. Not only can this form of stretching be used to treat various musculoskeletal problems, it can also be used as a preventative tool to help avoid injuries and as a means to enhance an athlete’s performance.
